“A person should set his goals as early as he can and devote all his energy and talent to getting there. With enough effort, he may achieve it. Or he may find something that is even more rewarding. But in the end, no matter what the outcome, he will know he has been alive.” - Walt Disney

Wedding Bells and Mickey Motels!

In just a few short hours, we're headed off to L.A.!  A good friend of mine from college is getting married there on Saturday, so we're flying out to be part of the festivities.  And, of course, what would a trip to L.A. be without sneaking in a day at Disneyland?  That's right, we're going to visit the original "House of Mouse" on Sunday!  And not only are we doing
Disneyland, but we're also squeezing in some time at Disney's California Adventures.  Then we're off to the airport on Monday morning to head home.  We're staying in a motel right across the street from the main entrance to maximize our time in the parks - nothing fancy, but it's a place to rest our heads.  (In planning this trip, we realized how spoiled we've gotten by staying on property at WDW).  It's gonna be a quick trip, but a great one - I can't wait!
Had a bit of a schizophrenic run this evening.  After a false start trying to run my normal intervals and feeling like my lungs were going to explode, I switched to an interval-on-the-fly pace of very slow jogging mixed with walking.  That way I still got to move my legs without overworking my lungs.  So I did manage to get some running in!  Nothing great, but not bad considering I'm still coughing quite a bit.

Road to Recovery

It started out with a throat tickle Friday morning that graduated into a full-on cough by Friday afternoon.  My Saturday at the office was not a pleasant experience.  I made a quick stop at Walgreens on the way home to stock up on every cold & flu medication and cough drop ever made, then headed home to ensconce myself in bed and wait it out.  I emerged from my cocoon yesterday morning, feeling relatively normal - still coughing, but no longer had a fever, chills, and body aches, so I went back to work.

I was worried about missing my scheduled 5 mile run on Saturday, and had 4 miles planned for yesterday, but I knew I wouldn't be up for running so soon.  However, I was itching for some activity after 3 days in bed, so last night I put on my gear and headed out for a walk around the trails, knowing I could easily turn back if I got overtired.  I actually managed to get 3.5 miles in - all walking - at a decent pace, so all was not lost!  I'm going to do the elliptical tomorrow, taking it easy, then depending on how I feel Thursday see if I can ease back into some running intervals.  I'm just pleased to (literally) be back on the road to recovery!
