If you haven't been following the blog from the beginning, you might not realize that when I say "run" what I really mean is run/walk. That's right, I'm a run/walker. I use interval training, which is where I run for a certain amount of time and then walk for a certain amount of time. So why say I'm running when I'm really not? It's just easier to say "I went for a run" than "I went for a run/walk."
Today I switched from a ratio of 1:2 to a ratio of 1:1. That means one minute of running followed by one minute of walking, repeating until I hit my goal distance for the day (thank goodness for the Garmin watch or I'd never be able to keep it straight!). I realize this was too dramatic of a shift because I got so tired I ended up having to walk through a couple of the run intervals and didn't increase my overall pace at all. So I've decided to switch to a 3:4 pace (run 45 seconds, walk 1 minute) for at least a few weeks, which should then make the transition to 1:1 a little easier.
Until then, I just have to keep on track and continue working towards a fitter, faster, me!

Today's stats:
- 0.59mi walk
- 3.01mi run; 41:00min; 13:37min/mi
- Dog Park Loop
